508 COMPLIANCE: The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794D), Section 508, as amended in 1998, mandates programming standards and practices for Federal web sites to ensure operability with assistive technologies used to access the World Wide Web by individuals with sensory, cognitive or physical disabilities.
